Azulejo del Cristo de la Sangre

In Callejón de la Magdalena, we find another beautiful corner of Palos de la Frontera, the Azulejo del Cristo de la Sangre (Ceramic Tile of Christ’s Blood).

Blessed on October 1, 2011, on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of the carving of Christ, a work by the Flemish school sculptor, Roque Balduque.

The ceramic tile is the work of ceramist Carmelo del Toro and represents the image of the Holy Christ of the Blood, which presides over the main altar of the nearby parish of San Jorge Mártir, above the port of Palos, adapting the work of the painter Evaristo Domínguez.

The ceramic altarpiece is artistically adorned, including the shields of the Brotherhood that owns the image, the House of H.M. the King, holding the honorary presidency of the events of the 450th anniversary, and the City Council of Palos de la Frontera.
