Muelle del vigía

The Vigía Pier was built in 1964, replacing an existing wooden one damaged by the strong storms suffered in December 1963. This pier was used by the port piloting service, and it was from here that the pilot’s canoe departed to guide ships in and out. It is located on the left bank of the estuary’s mouth, about 20 kilometers from the city of Huelva. The walkway was demolished in 2001 for safety reasons due to its poor condition, and it was replaced with a new one with a length of 105 meters, a width of 2.5 meters, and a hexagonal platform of 18×18 meters.
